The Voice of the Soul

Author: Dr. Shuddhananda Bharati

All the 324 songs contained in this book give voice to my experience of life. I, who lived my life depending solely on the almighty Supreme Soul for support, encountered many obstacles and ordeals in my life. On the stage of this world, I have never known the joys of romantic love. I sought only the joy of knowing and uniting with God. He, who remained the beloved thief who had robbed my heart, subjected me to terrible worldly hardships.

Who stood by me whenever I was surrounded by innumerable misfortunes such as egoistic tussles, jealousy, backbiting, deceit, divisive scheming, unjust slander and disappointments? Only the pure energy that is God was my life saviour. During those difficult times, I strung garlands of songs as an ode to the Supreme Soul who is the Master of my life. Dr. Shuddhananda Bharati.

Saint Thyagaraja and Maharishi Thayumanar

Author: Dr. Shuddhananda Bharati

Saint Thyagaraja is the triumph of Indian art and music. India is celebrating the bicentenary of the seer-poet. This book commemorates his bicentinary. We have delight in publishing this book by a modern seer-poet to honour the occasion. Seer-poets live in tune with the Divine and their art is an efflorescence of the inner beauty.

In part two, the soul-thrilling hymns of Maharshi Thayumanar are sung in every Tamil home. They are sublime Upanishads. They inspired the author of this book, Yogi Shuddhananda Bharati, in his boyhood. The Yogi dedicates this humble flower of love to the Jnani Thayumanar.

Explication of the Gita, Path revealed by Githai, Geetai Kattum Pathai

Author: Dr. Shuddhananda Bharati

The teaching of the Gita is yoga, spiritual truth applied to external life and action; it may be any action and not necessarily an action resembling that of the Gita. It is the principle of the spiritual consciousness applied to action that has to be kept. By turning (from the present world-consciousness) to the Divine and entering into the Divine consciousness one can possess through the world also the Eternal.

The language of the Gita sometimes admits two apparently opposite truths and turns to reconcile them. It admits the ideal of departure from Samsara into the Brahman as one possibility; also it offers the possibility of living free in the Divine (in me, it says) and acting in the world as the Jivan Mukta. It is the latter kind of solution on which it lays the greatest emphasis.

In three directions drum the sea – between the tips
of Kanya and the peak of Gowri
Wherever you see joy spreading
The country of India is our own land;

In the sky – high mountains – in the
Green fields made fertile by rivers
Honey and fruits insatiately pouring
Country this is, the living place of wealth this is!

72 Mela Kartha Ragas

Author: Dr. Shuddhananda Bharati

The light of affection to Shuddha Shakti! I am always delighted by your blessing! With devotion, to have success, the Melarnava mala in the world gives us the thala raga attraction. My life has passed with meditation, songs, loneliness and delight since the age of five. Knowing this, Poornananda Bharati heard my songs and inspired me. He is brother to my maternal grandfather. He went to the Himalayas at a young age and attained Atmic status.

His mentor, a great sage called Jnana Siddha, trained me in Shuddha equi-yogic practices. I meditated at the feet of Swami Siddharoodar, Shirdi Say Baba, Bhagwan Ramana Maharshi and Pooranayogi Aurobindo and developed the equi-yoga power. This power gave the inner inspiration and called me to sing. I made the songs as the practice of worship. What I learnt, heard and knew; everything is the blessing of Shuddha Shakti Paramatman. Message from Shuddhananda Bharati.
